BE CAREFUL and know where your money is going. The salesman tried to charge a higher sales tax than applicable to my jurisdiction.
When I requested an itemized invoice showing taxable materials and non-taxable labor THEY REFUSED. The lack of transparency makes me question their business practices.
The residential siding installation was generally satisfactory, presumably by subcontractors, and a couple of issues were resolved. A company representative DID NOT contact me for a final inspection upon completion of the job.
After doing lots of research and meeting with other companies, we were so happy to find 1st Choice. Helen was able to get us an appointment quickly and Chris was very thorough and walked us through all of our options while keeping our budget in mind. We know we are getting a quality product with great service- looking forward to our install!
Everything was great about my experience until the end of my business with 1st choice. Our door was installed the first week of January and that is when we paid the second deposit. A month goes by then they cashed the check. We had switched bank accounts by that point and had not realized that the check was still outstanding. We received a not very nice email from their office manager saying we now would owe their $12 return check fee. I called frustrated about this as I don’t think cashing a check 4 weeks after it is written is a good practice and I was told “we’ll the owner doesn’t go to the bank everyday.” If that is the case then a little bit of warning would have been appreciated at the time the check was written.
UPDATE: It’s great getting the passive aggressive response from the “owner” but I have not heard from anyone whether the check I mailed two weeks ago was even received. It has still not been cashed and no one has let me know any status on it even though I emailed saying it was in the mail. Hopefully it will be cashed before March and I’ll be able to close out this bank account.
We recently had our windows replaced. They've been in for about a month now we are every bit as happy today as we were the day they were installed and completed. We read all the reviews sampled many companies and products got quots from all , our experience seem to match with everyone else's ,professional ,on time, on budget no problems , thanks.
I came across these folks at a home show in denver toward the end of 2021. Right from the start, they were upfront and transparent about pricing and how their process works. They set me up with an in home meeting with their sales rep, Jay. He was an EXTREMELY professional and to the point kind of guy. He applied no pressure for me to make a decision on the spot like most sales reps attempt to do. We had 2 other competing companies come and present their product(we needed a new glass sliding door installed) before making a decision. Not only did their product demonstration not even come close to the quality that 1st Choice offers, one of them opened up with the I need to make a decision today garbage , the other was professional, however their product appeared to be substandard at best. The installation tech, Ryan was also pleasant to deal with. He did not have the best opening to work with upon removing our 42 year old slider, however he made it work perfectly. 1st Choice has the superior product and they beat the pricing of their competition by a long shot, especially considering how smooth and well made their product is. Night and day. Helen works in the office and was extremely pleasant to deal with. If we need doors or windows ever again, I will be loyal to these folks. The sliding door they installed is nicer than our house! Thank you 1st Choice.
This review is strictly about the sales meeting at our home. Chris was obviously very knowledgeable and it very much seemed like they do good work with good windows, and take a lot of pride in it. Chris made several good points about the benefits of buying windows now, the help on resale, etc. However, the sales pitch used so many classic sales strategies and Chris attempted to corner us into making a 10 thousand dollar decision while he was still at the house or he wouldn't be able to offer us the 3k discount the next day. He told us this is due to the industry changing every day and him wanting to get us the lowest price. Half of the discount was from the window manufacturer and I get not being able to guarantee that, but the other half was an advertising plan where we leave positive reviews and speak to our neighbors about the company. He mentioned several times that he would never want to pressure us into a decision, but could not give us one day or even two hours to run the numbers on this big investment. The decision had to be made before he left our house. You can spin that however you want but that is an aggressive sales strategy that I didn't appreciate. We just moved in this week to our new home and haven't even paid our first month of bills, which Chris knew about. He also knew he was our first window estimate so I felt it was unfair to expect that decision to be made on the spot instead of giving a deadline by end of next business day. When we said no, he did walk back the discount removal a fair amount and said that if we call tomorrow the discount probably wouldn't change much. Overall, it seems like they do good work but the sales process is no different than a multi level marketing program.
We had a very positive experience with Chris when choosing our siding. We bought an older house and were in desperate need of new siding. Chris thoroughly went through our options while considering our budget. He also spent extra time with us discussing other resources we may need in the future for our fixer upper! We are excited to start the process!
